Fans were thrilled to notice an easter egg found in the recent episode of Pokemon Journeys as the Masters’ Eight story arc continues.

The Easter egg was shared by Reddit user u/THWACKIFY on r/Pokémon, where they discovered that Steven said their original lines from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire for the Game Boy Advance. According to the poster, Steven told Ash, verbatim, the congratulatory message the new Hoenn Region champion receives at the end of the match.

Fans laughed at this cool Easter egg, saying Steven memorized his speech after over 16 million coaches beat him in games.

Others hoped that other Masters’ Eight Championship coaches would also receive cool Easter eggs and referrals from the games they came from.

Others complained that it wasn’t exactly “word for word” due to translation issues between Japanese and English. However, according to a few Reddit users, the translation team behind the recent episode noticed that the line from the anime is very similar to the Omega Ruby and Alpha sapphire games for the Nintendo 3DS.

The Pokemon Masters Eight story arc is currently available in Japan and streaming on TVTokyo. The English release of the episode has yet to be announced; however, it is more likely to land on Netflix because Pokémon Journeys: The Series is currently available on the streaming platform.
