Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Regional Tauros ‘Leaked’ Image Appears Online

Pokemon scarlet and violet are just over four months away from release, and many are hoping Game Freak will start showing the game more and more. So far, it has received two trailers, revealing the legendary Pokemon Koraidon and Miraidon, the four-player co-op functionality, non-linear progression style and much more. In the meantime, many rumors and leaks (false and/or legitimate) have been circulating during this period.

For example, Riddler Khu has repeatedly hinted at the evolution of Fuecoco, as well as other elements of the games. Riddler Khu is perhaps the only leaker in the Pokemon space that should be trusted, given that his track record accurately covers all recent games, including Pokemon scarlet and violet‘s starters. However, there are plenty of fakes floating around too, including an evolution of Sprigatito that turned out to be a modified Obstagoon.

Now a new “leak” has started circulating on the internet, showing a new regional variant for Tauros. Since bulls are linked to Spanish culture and Pokemon scarlet and violet are based on Spain/Iberia, it would make sense to give some bull Gen 1 Pokemon some love. An image has been circulating on several social media sites, seen on Reddit below, showcasing a new form for Tauros.

This form apparently changes Tauros from a normal type to a dark type, with dark fur, gold and red adornments, including their horns, and odd red eyes. This looks like a super cool regional variant for Pokemon scarlet and violet; however, fans should be aware – if they see this post anywhere online – there is a good chance it is fake.

First, it appears on a Switch screen, which means someone should have access to the game on a Switch. It’s not really possible at this point. Others have also noted how much less detailed this Tauros is than other Pokémon seen in Pokemon scarlet and violet trailers so far. Some have argued that it may be less textured due to the stage of development, but that idea falls apart pretty quickly when placed next to the Switch screen.

Eventually, it appears to be a random image circulating in the Pokemon scarlet and violet community. There doesn’t appear to be any real source for this, and given that leaks should live and die by their source, their absence makes this picture even more sketchy. It looks like an interesting regional form for Tauros, and stranger things have happened than a legitimate beloved image, but fans shouldn’t hold their breath.

Pokemon scarlet and violet out November 18 on Nintendo Switch.
