Fans of Valley of stars just received an unexpected surprise from the game developer Eric Baron: the announcement of his next match, Haunted Chocolatier. Barone made the announcement on his official Twitter page today. Let’s just say this new game will be a huge hit with chocolate and ghost lovers. The project is currently in development.

Haunted Chocolatier follows the players as they run a haunted chocolate factory. A trailer accompanied the announcement and gave a detailed look at the gameplay – think about Tim burton meets Hershey’s Chocolate meets – naturally – Valley of stars.

Barone posted a statement on the official website for Haunted Chocolatier, detailing the idea and process of developing the game and contrasting it with Valley of stars:

Chocolate represents what is delicious. The haunted castle represents the lure of the unknown. The ghosts represent the imprint of the past. All of these things are important. However, don’t think for a moment that because this game features ghosts in a haunted castle, it is an evil or negative game. On the contrary, I intend this game to be positive, uplifting and rewarding. However, while Stardew Valley primarily channels energy from the sun, Haunted Chocolatier does channel energy from the moon. Both are vital.

He also added that the gameplay “evolved” during its development and that the preview trailer offered a glimpse of the early stages of the game, but there was still more content to be created.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting news on Barone’s next project, and so far details have been kept under wraps. Even though the game is still in its early stages, it will be interesting to see what haunted treat ConcernedApe has in store for fans in the future.
