The 2022 AGDQ set a record $3.4 million for charity

Every winter, Games Done Quick hosts a week-long speedrun event on Twitch where people race through video games as fast as they can. All the while, viewers are making charitable donations during the broadcast, and 2022 has been a record-breaking success.

Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2022 started on January 9 and ended on Sunday after raising over $3.4 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. As with last year’s event, AGDQ 2022 was held online to ensure attendee safety during the ongoing pandemic and to prevent any last minute cancellations to occur.

According to the AGDQ press release, several world records were broken at the event, including:

The most breathtaking spectacle of the 2022 AGDQ was the finish of runner Mitchriz Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice while blindfolded. Yeah, he got through the notoriously tough time action game by FromSoftware while unable to see – in about two hours, no less. Additionally, bananas rarely take damage from bosses.

The next Games Done Quick event will be the Fatal Frosts, which will start on February 27 and run until March 5. on Twitch.
