Rockstar’s recent announcement Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition stirred the fans of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, as they often do. Fans are curious how the three Grand Theft Auto games may have been tweaked, on what kind of quality the experience will deliver and who worked on the bundle. Given the number of Grand Theft Auto fans out there, it’s no surprise that they’ve found some answers, starting with the details of the development.

In Rockstar’s announcement of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, the company surprised by confirming that Rockstar does not actually improve these games. Instead, he said that the three Grand Theft Auto the games were maintained by partner Grove Street Games. Grove Street, formerly known as War Drum Studios, worked on Grand Theft Auto ports for more than 10 years, starting with Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars‘on iOS in 2010. The review of LinkedIn employee profiles for Grove Street developers led fans to Thomas Williamson, the studio’s co-founder and owner. Some fans believed that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was being developed by one of Rockstar’s new teams, Rockstar Dundee, which was acquired in 2020 and renamed from Ruffian Games. The revelation that Grove Street is producing the remasters has left many wondering what Rockstar Dundee is working on instead.

With confirmation that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition is being developed by Grove Street, some fans are expressing concerns. Grove Street has worked on some ports in the past Grand Theft Auto games that have left some fans with bad taste in their mouths. One port stands out in particular, which is the port of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Some fear that since San Andreas is included in the version of the trilogy, it means that the quality could be lower than expectations.

Obviously, Grove Street has probably changed dramatically in the years since it was ported. Grand Theft Auto San Andreas to iOS, Android, Xbox 360 and PS3. In addition, the scope of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition is much wider than a simple port. Having said that, two years is a very rapid development time. Hoping that Rockstar has particularly supported the development of the remakes.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition releases November 11 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S.
