Tom Holland’s Uncharted Pays Homage To Iconic Video Game Scene In Extended Preview

Sony is releasing a full scene from its film adaptation of Uncharted directed by Tom Holland, which pays homage to a key sequence from Uncharted 3 in 2011.

Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake is likely keen to have Peter Parker’s spider powers in an extended sneak peek at the upcoming Sony film adaptation. Unexplored.

On its official YouTube channel, Sony Pictures Entertainment shared an almost two-and-a-half-minute scene from Unexplored, in which Nate confronts Braddock’s henchmen (Tati Gabrielle) in a cargo plane thousands of feet in the air. The cargo flies out the back and Nate walks with it when his leg is trapped. With the cargo still connected to the plane, Nate must precariously climb aboard, while being shot at. This scene is a direct tribute to a particularly memorable sequence from the 2011 video game. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

Nate eventually manages to get back on the plane. However, sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is a train – or in this case, a red sports car.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom, the land of zombies), Sony Pictures’ Unexplored is based on the exclusive PlayStation series from developer Naughty Dog and publisher Sony Computer Entertainment. Holland is joined in the film by Mark Wahlberg, who plays Nate’s mentor, Victor “Sully” Sullivan. Sophia Ali stars as Chloe Frazer, Nate’s love interest. During this time, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Alum Gabrielle plays Braddock, while Antonio Banderas plays the main antagonist Moncada. Additionally, Pilou Asbæk and Rubén Doblas Gundersen (better known as El Rubius) have been cast for undisclosed roles.

The main line of Naughty Dog Unexplored the series started with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, originally released for PlayStation 3 in 2007. Drake’s Fortune was followed by Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and the above Drake’s Deception, released for PS3 in 2009 and 2011, respectively. In 2016, Naughty Dog brought the series to PlayStation 4 with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which was itself followed by the standalone extension Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in 2017.

A feature film adaptation of Unexplored has been in various stages of development at Sony since around 2008. Finally slated for release next month, the film follows Holland’s Nate and Wahlberg’s Sully as they search for a great lost treasure while trying to find the long-lost brother. Nate date.
