Winzo Funding: Games Startup WinZO Raises $ 65 Million From Griffin Gaming Partners

Pune: WinZO, an online gaming and entertainment platform, has raised $ 65 million in a Series C funding round led by Griffin Gaming Partners, a global games fund based in California.

Phil Sanderson, co-founder of Griffin Gaming Partners, will join WinZO’s board of directors.

The company has now raised a total of $ 90 million, including the $ 18 million it received six months ago from existing Makers Fund investors, Courtside Ventures and Bain Capital co-chair Steve Pagliuca.

“With this increase, we expect to grow much faster and become an even more attractive product for our consumers. WinZO is well placed and strategically well positioned to be one of the first ‘Made in India’ products that will dominate the world for years to come, ”said Paavan Nanda, co-founder of WinZO.

Founded in early 2018 by Nanda, WinZO partners with third-party developers to host games on their Android application. Its platform, currently available in 12 languages, facilitates more than 2.5 billion micro-transactions per month on a portfolio of more than 70 games. The company has over 50 million registered users.

“We are delighted to make Griffin Gaming Partners’ first investment in India by supporting WinZO, the company behind the country’s largest social gaming app,” said Nick Tuosto, co-founder of Griffin Gaming Partners. “We have seen incredible retention and monetization measures in WinZO’s games which we believe have allowed the company to continue explosive growth and we are proud to support the team throughout the journey,” said said Tuosto, also Managing Director and Head of Games at LionTree.

WinZO has increased revenue tenfold over the past 12 months and has partnered with over 100 leading game developers through the in-game integration of its social gaming framework.
